Less Shun, More Shine

Happy 12-12-12! Today is known as a portal day. Its positive energies flung open a doorway to assist and remind the self to cultivate a deeper connection with who you are. This includes all aspects of the self, even the aspects that one may have previously attempted to disconnect from, disown, deny or ignore. In particular our shadow aspects. These have long been seen as a hinderance, a foe to be fought
or that which weighs us down. But...

Where there is a shadow there is always a source of light.

The strength of light effects the shadow it casts. Yet at no point does a shadow lessen the light source itself.

Think of sunshine. When it radiates bright, it births strong and clear shadows. The sun does not fear the shadows it creates. It simply keeps on shining on. Then there are days when a cloud or two moves between us and the sun, blurring the edges of shadow. Still, the sun continues to shine and does not dim nor redefine itself as a response to the passing cloud. And when the skies are completely overcast, there is no visible differentiation between light and shadow. Yet, the sun beams on, without needing to become the shadow.

So too with our own shine. The strength of the connection with our inner light effects the relationship with our shadow aspects. When we shun who we are {light + shadow} we blur our ability to be who we are, cloud our vision to see where we are at and dim our receptivity to our innate wisdom, insights and intuition. When we own our brilliance, we open up to the fullness of this experience. By default our shadow aspects become more defined.

Shadow aspects do not solely surface to sabotage who we are.

As we step up to our light, shadow aspects simultaneously surface as an offering of deeper healing and to create a greater connection with our truth. The more aware you are of what is and what isn't your shadow (and what does and does not belong to you), you expand your scope of choice. You get to choose how to relate with your shadow. Embracing our wholeness {light + shadow}, opens us up to receiving the gift of shadow. This is a pivotal point of transformation. Where before we may have let shadow overrun, overpower or diminish us - causing conscious and unconscious disruption - we assign it a new role in our life. When we receive the gift of shadow, we inherit its benefits and allow it to become a source of strength for our whole self.

Right now the world needs less shun, more shine.

Shine on, Jelena x

p.s. while I was capturing my light wings in shadow form, Kalvin was head up, face forward, soaking up some sunshine. He says when you face your light and truely own it, you don't always see your shadows. Because they are behind you. Just because your shadow might not be visible in this moment, doesn't mean to ignore them or to presume you have now gained immunity. Kalvin suggests the healthiest way to be with your shadow aspects is to be aware you have them (conscious and unconscious ones) and to trust that when they come around the side and into view that they do so to offer you a gift. Kalvin says accepting the gift frees the shadow to be a shadow without you needing to become the shadow. He says it also frees your light. So that you may shine it.
